You have an idea for a review and you need authors to join your team ...

Post a task asking for volunteers

• Give as much detail as possible about your review, including the title, priority and any deadlines and funding.

• What skills do you need? The Cochrane Handbook suggests an author team should include people with expertise in these areas:

  • Clinical topics related to the review;
  • Systematic review methodology;
  • Statistics and data analysis;
  • Search methods and medical databases (qualified Information Specialist or Medical Librarian);
  • Relevant stakeholders

• Describe your ideal co-author(s) and list the Skills and Methodological Skills you need: 

  • Skills include: Consumer input, Data Analysis, Project Management, Writing (drafting and editing) 
  • Methodological skills include: Equity, GRADEing, Statistics 

• Select Authorship under Rewards on the task posting form. This will ensure your task appears in the list of open author opportunities.

• Wait for responses and pick your dream team! Remember to close your task when you have found the volunteers you need.

Browse People to search for people with specific skills

• Select Skills and Methodological Skills to filter the network of people on Cochrane Engage. 

  • Skills include: Consumer input, Data Analysis, Project Management, Writing (drafting and editing) 
  • Methodological skills include: Equity, GRADEing, Statistics 

• Send people a message directly from their profile page to invite them to join your team.

Select the Join an author team button on the Cochrane Engage homepage to view a list of open author opportunities. Apply for any relevant tasks.  

Help people find you

Update your Cochrane Account profile to showcase your skills and interests.  

• Add your LinkedIn and ResearchGate URLs to show your research and professional background.  

• If you have completed Cochrane Training modules, or been involved in a systematic review before, add this information to your Special interests.  

• A detailed profile showing your skills and experience will encourage people to contact you when they search for potential authors.
